Yes, boom-bust-cycle occurred even before Fed since it's caused by over-expansion of credit & FRADULENT fractional-reserve-banking system which govt kept legal, creating Fed was like adding fuel to fire & the result was Great Depression as Fed & banks over-expanded during WWI & "Roaring 20s" (inflationary boom before the collapse - sounds familiar?)
Gold/silver-std (NOT controlled by govt) while OUTLAWING fractional-reserve-banking is the deal
