I have a mini dv that writes to tapes. it works well, and has surprisingly good quality. but I have problems with the tapes when I transfer to the computer; during the playback it has "timecode errors" constantly that require me to stop capturing, back up the tape a bit, and then resume... it's annoying, but hard drive cams are EXPENSIVE. lol...

as far as the quality of videos I put up, it's more of a technical issue than anything. the finished movies are very often excellent quality, crystal clear and beautiful. (the only flaw I notice is that when the camera has a lot of motion in a shot, there's a minor error with the picture, and strange lines pop up. nothing horrible though.) when I have a quicktime vid though, (the highest quality I can do), it takes FOREVER to upload it. MPEG-4 is faster... quicktime also freezes during upload.

mine automatically download from camera into computer as mpg2, and i usually render in mpg1, but ive started rendering in avi. i try to stay away from quicktime(mpg4)
