Peter Sutherland had planned to retire as chairman of BP in 2008, but the search for a successor has taken longer than anticipated, so he has stayed on. He insisted, however, that this would be his last AGM. Despite a tumultuous year, Sutherland reinforced BPs commitment to being a leading provider of energy. He reiterated BPs firm commitment to addressing climate change and making investments in alternative energy.
In my view Peter is Ireland's Most Brilliant Mind, living or dead, no debate, including Joyce. You don't reach levels, as the Vatican Banker, Chairman of BP, or Chairman of Goldman Sachs, by being a fool.
Long story short, I see a big picture, from today all the way back to the demise of the Roman Empire, Venice and The Dutch, and of course William of Orange.
As an Irishman myself whose family has been desemented by current Economics Affairs, our saviour is Peter. "Step up to the plate".
