Sorry, it was 4549 Kingston Road, and the Coffee Diner is no longer there. Looks like an abandoned Blockbuster Video store occupies that site now.

Ninja Assassin: The entire film was shot in Toronto, except for the various Bilgewater scenes, which were all shot in different sections of an abandoned restaurant in Markham, just north of Toronto, and "Wig in a Box", which was shot in a trailer park in south Mississauga. The Tommy/Hedwig finale was done at The Warehouse nightclub on Queen's Quay and Jarvis. "Wicked Little Town" was shot at The Coffee Diner at 3549 Kingston Rd. Not sure if it's still there. Check Google Maps.

@LivewireRemote That's incredible! I didn't know this scene was filmed in my city. That's insane!
-
@LivewireRemote well done. Best film/soundtrack of the past 20 years, at least. Love it.

Barbra Streisand does the same. It makes sense as they are acting and every take is different and one little moment can make a big difference. SOUND. You guys don't get enough credit and that's coming from camera! Nothing can lose me in a movie quite like bad sound. You did a great job on this movie.

And hurricanes and rains
And black and cloudy skies

This scene was filmed in a doughnut shop on Kingston Road and Morningside in the east end of Toronto on Aug 9, 2000. It was the last song recorded for the movie.
I was the sound recordist for all the vocals in the film, which were done live to pre-recorded instrumental tracks. In most films, they would just lip-sync, but John Cameron Mitchell wanted all the vocals to be live.

@LivewireRemote What an experience! Congratulations! Yes, I knew about that because they mention it in the documentary I think, but thanks so much for sharing your experience. JCM is very talented, focused and passionate. I love his work!

I actually have performed the play as Hedwig in Oklahoma City.. had a 6week run 3nights a week and didn't think it would go that well but surprisingly enough we were sold out each night.. Was one hell of show to be in and very liberating as a performer
