no it doesn't work. it is jarring, i was just settling into the old sound. then it totally goes to something i've seen loads of times. the one performance alone is better in both cases.

Simply because it seemed to work....two performances quarter of a century apart and they have the same tempo allowing the transition. Recording quality of 2004 is much better.
As Mr Ormston commented to me when he saw it "I know its a long song be, jeez have they aged by the end of it".
