The Nitrogen,phosphorous,potash and carbon cycles are all as important as the water cycle. Closing the loop for nutrients is crucial for sustainability.

They are also a food source. If you don't want to eat them directly, feed them to chickens, or fish and eat them. If you are a herbivore, feed the castings to plants and eat the plants.

Then feed the worms animal shit (people shit too) and plant waste. It's a sustainable circle.
