The Kangaroo Point, Shafston Avenue (Southern Exit Point). *** - BRISBANE, QUEENSLAND, AUSTRALIA.
*** Currently The longest road tunnel in Australia!***
- Until Airport link is complete which will connect to Clem7.
Finally it's here! The Clem 7 Road Tunnel!
We were some of the first people to drive though the tunnel when officially opened!
(We drove through minutes afrer 12am [16/03/2010] just 2 hours after it opened!)
Cutting out 24 sets of traffic lights with a solid 80km/h speed limit, the 6.8km Clem7 (named after the longest serving Brisbane Lord Mayor, Clem Jones) took just over 3 years in the making and 10 years of planning!
The tunnel connects Brisbane's North side to the South side down 60 meters beneath the Brisbane River ! ! !
Absolutely amazing piece of engineering!

@tonzislandsandman im surprised this aint 2-4 lanes each way, thats the same problem here, theyre planning to widen the M5 east tunnels to 4 lanes in each way

i wonder what the fate of this road is for the investors which put money into it because it doesnt look very healthy at the moment... more traffic needs to pass through it every day for it be worth the investment it cost rivercity

Because of this POS tunnel traffic at lutwyche road is horrendus especially in peak hour. well done brisbane transport people
