Seeing if a failure did happen is actually pretty easy. If you are unsure of the method you used, many websites actually sell testers for this job. Hope you enjoyed!

  • I have a 96 Eclipse, 5sp. RS. My car has been running extremely hot, to the point to where i couldnt make it 2 miles from my house without it hitting the "H". Not the thermostat, not the radiator. Did the "bubble" test, and the water was shooting out! NOT BUBBLING! I already have my timing belt, and passenger side motor mount off, im just hoping that you can assure me that it is a head gasket that i am dealing with. Did not notice a milky color in the oil, but i was leaking EXTREME amounts. Thx

  • @stapleton2908 Did you open the radiator cap after the car got that hot? And how long has it been/ever since the water pump was replaced?

  • How about if the car is constantly running hot? I changed my thermostat and waterpump and it still running hot!

  • @BlackFreemasonsSuck Did you properly purge the coolant system? Does it have the correct oil height? Is there debris such as leaves and stuff in front of the radiator? It could be a lot of problems.

  • @iexploderacoons yes, yes and yes. What else?

  • @BlackFreemasonsSuck Clean the stuff from in front of the radiator, and see if you have any coolant leaks of any sort. Oh and how many miles are on the engine?

  • @FordGuy8790 Im am contemplating on adding a head gasket sealant, what do you think?

  • @BlackFreemasonsSuck I had the same problem on a couple of cars... no signs of the coolant and oil mixing, but coolant being forced back into the reservoir. Both times it turned out to be a head gasket.

  • @iexploderacoons I got 150,000 miles on My Chevy Impala 3.4 engine and I got lotsa backpressure. so Much that it pushes all the coolant into me recpt tank. My oil is not milky and I have no smoke coming out from my muffler. What do you think?

  • what if the gasket have the heating problem is this a gasket failure

  • It wasnt water pump i know that for a fact and yes did check radiator cap, but not my problem anymore, i have a Ford Probe now lol Thanks anyway bro

  • @stapleton2908 i had the same problem turns out it was just a bad radiator cap

  • Heater core

  • Also... youll have white smoke coming out of the exhust from the antifreeze burning off the exhaust manifold... theres testers out there to check for combustion gases. Called a combustion leak test. You can also tell possably by an overheating engine. hence the fact oil in the radiator just makes things hotter.
