Hi Jody,
This series of videos are absolutely fantastic. I have just purchased a 250Amp AC/DC inverter. Thanks to you, I now know how to get it going straight away and what all those damn knobs do!! You are clearly a wealth of knowledge in the welding world and I am very grateful for all your time spent in making all these videos to help us guys out!!

if you could only have one tig machine what brand and model would you go with?
-
@WhippJunior I agree. And the tig fingers work I bought two.

Forget the dvd's and books. Jodys posts and a little practice and you should be able to lay a decent bead!

Hi, I'm somewhat new to TIG welding (though I've used MIG for years). Is it just for 'demo' purposes that you don't wear a glove or other shielding on your left hand? I would have thought you'd end up with a nasty burn like you would with MIG. ??

i try to wear gloves on both hands most of the time. when you are making a video, knowing you have a deadline, and a teenager who is acting up, its hard to get everything right.

However the pm205 would do everlthing that I need it to do in my garage/shop. Yet the pm205 comes with an air cooled torch. I'm sure it could be upgraded to a wc torch any time, but off the bat only one 220 is needed & no water cooler. A little more cost effective for penny pinchers like me. Are air cooled torches really efficient for 200 or less amps?

i got by with an air cooled torch for a long time. But i finally smoked it from always pushing the limits. I like a water cooled #25 small torch.
This Powertig has an auxillary 220 volt plug in the back for the wc...so i only need one plug in.

Wow *****....., do you use a watercooler for less than 160 amps?

I am sure I could get by without a water cooler for a lot of things, but once its hooked up, you pretty much just use it for everything.... , you have to leave it turned on or you will smoke the water cooled torch
