  • I was wondering if you had a forward/backward button tutorial. I'm making an interactive character sheet and I need to be able to change the clothing on my character with arrow buttons. Please help!

  • @Riverdoodles You may want to check out my next and previous gallery. That has a similar function.

  • How can I place a link on the button so when people click on it, they will go to a website?

  • @rapstreetz I have a video on Linking Buttons to External URLs. That should be what you need.

  • Thanks you mate.

  • good tutorial thanks

  • Great tutorials, thanks!

I notice that this is in Flash CS3- does this same button properties method work in previous versions too?

    Keep up the good work...

  • Sweeeet! I simply didn't press "cut" enough times. In the vid, I couldn't tell what you were doing to delete, because you didn't say and were likely using shortcut keys. It looked like all of your layers deleted at once.

Many people who do these tutorials leave out steps visually, because they don't use the tabs or at least say what they're doing for those of us who don't work with shortcuts. Leaving out those kinds of details can be extremely frustrating for those who use the tabs and menus.

  • I couldn't get this to work. What are you pressing to delete your buttons? The 1st 3 states of my button are still showing. Is it because I built the up, over, and down images of my button in Photoshop and not in Flash? My buttons are somewhat fancy, so it's more involved than just changing colors, so I have no idea how I would replicate the same buttons using only Flash or if it's even possible. If none of this matters to the outcome, then do you have any other ideas what went wrong?

  • Is it possible for the button to link to another part in the flash project?

Like, instead of linking to a website, can you link it to something in the project.

Example: If I wanted buttons that say Play, Menu, and Options, can I make those buttons go to another layer in my project?
