  • If you want to find out more details about the armor systems of Battletech, read the Techmanual of the Classic Battletech game. MrStaghare is more or less right.

  • Everything anyone wants to know about battletech. sarna.net

  • @metalictempest The armor on mechs is actually very thin. Canonically they are borderline hollow with armored plates of a reinforcing honeycomb. Thus being much lighter than they appear. (Can't recall the source, its one of the bloody books somewhere.)

  • awesome! This is beautiful work.

  • Are you serious? It's pretty darn good, if I do say so myself. Poor Urbie, though.

  • @battlespace13

that would be the samurai iirc

  • A previous comment said that these were shilone areotech fighters, beloning to kurita. However after reading the revised edition of technical readout 3025, it is a actually a F-100 Riever.

  • @dec20056 actually Mechwarrior is Battletech, there are hundreds of mechs and many of the early designs were very humanoid like the Atlas because of the way they operate and the pilot is hooked up to give the mech balance. All mechs can run, punch, and jump like humans, pick up tree's etc it just takes a skilled pilot

  • Will someone please confirm what kind of fighter the red ones are? Isn't it the same type as the one on the cover of the original AeroTech box set?

  • this is vert anime like, I LIKE THAT

  • Very cool!!

  • @redreaper2020 Just thinking that 1 foot of a lot of battlements looks much larger than a tank's tread area though I don't have any numbers. That plus battle-tech's specified weights put most mechs in the weight range of real battle-tanks. It seems like they would be similar to tanks then. But I find it unbelievable that something like a timberwolf could be as light as they say (70 tons if I remember correctly?)

  • @metalictempest How do you figure they have lower ground pressure? Look at the feet at 1:24 on both mechs, especially the front one. 1/4 of the tank's total size is track area, giving it half the ground pressure of your average car. A 50-ton vehicle on 1/2 the size (about the size of the background mech's feet) would be the same as a car. You add in the fact that it has to walk, meaning all weight on one foot and then the other, and it'll sink like a stone even on firm ground.

  • @redreaper2020 Well an modern real battle tank is 55 tons and has smaller surface area on the ground than most of these mechs (The games say they are between 30-90 Tons even though that would mean their armor should be less dense than a normal tank's, yet they are much stronger than tanks in all games.) If you can believe the weight they claim then they wouldn't sink any worse than modern tanks. But based on size and strength they seem like they should weigh over 250 tons which would sink bad.

  • @toien

Let them sue - our mechs' are superior in every way compared to their Jet-mechs.

  • pretty damn good

  • wouldn't such large mechs, with such small feet and high ground pressures, sink in bad terrain?

  • thought battletech was mechwarrior. if so then not many of the mechs should have hands. thats more of and asian mech style

  • Very nice dude congrats

  • @xLiLxKiNGx in space everything can "fly" it's just a matter of thrust as there is no air to creat friction or lift

  • This is the best "kid stuff" I have seen :D

  • That is some great animation work... I would love to see this type animation with a story and plot in the battletech universe with people doing voices and make it into a little video to share... Great work.

  • @JRBL1A1 the WHM-6R is still an 'Unseen' 'Mech sadly; putting that design in without paying a pretty penny to H'armhony G'huld would just result in another lawsuit. :P

  • @toien Well, it was only a couple years ago that Catalyst Game Labs managed to recover the rights to some of the 'Unseen', and IIRC there were none of those 12 'Macross-based' designs in this video (I thought I saw an Archer, but then it shot a PPC blast so I knew that couldn't be right :) )

  • psh this is not beginner the video has well made mechs and action make more please!
