my only response especially to reimu...is HOLY CRAP! i was hoping of maby being able to do that but since i only play on easy because i dont have the stamina to finish the last like 2 bosses on normal...and i usualy end up hitting stuff by accident this seems a long way out of reach

thanks a bunch cuz I love this song

Yeah, I really hated Extra mode.
For Komachi, I basically spammed shift and Z in an attempt to preemptively kill off the bullets until the timer ran out. And bomb at the last few seconds. Took forever.
For Sikieiki, I kept on dying when I first tried to play this. That is, until I noticed that pulling off a bunch of consecutive Lv2 Spellcards does two things - stalls the game by clearing a small area while only consuming a bar, and lots of extra lives.

I seriously hated Reimu on Sikieiki's Extra run, I really did. I swear, I could not look at anything with Reimu on it for about 3 days (which pretty much sums up every Touhou game) because I just hated her and her yin-yang orbs so much for all the frustration she made me go through (amazingly, through all that frustration, I won, and after pretty much every death, I gained a life. Go figure).
I don't understand the concept of this Touhou game. Are you supposed to be competing with an AI in a battle of endurance?

@Shadowelf93 You're competing head-to-head against an AI. Anything you shoot down produces bullets and enemies on your opponent's screen, and vice versa. You also have Spell Card attacks, which clears bullets on your screen, and at the same time sends a wave of bullets to your opponent. Normally, each hit deducts from your life gauge, and whoever lasts longer without losing the last point wins. This is Extra Mode, where you lose after 1 hit, and the AI is invincible until the timer hits 0.

Thanks. It's called "幽霊楽団 ~ Phantom Ensemble", which roughly translates to "Ghostly Band ~ Phantom Ensemble". It's a remix of the Stage 4 boss theme (of the same name) from Perfect Cherry Blossom.

The free Lv.4 Spell Cards apply to all modes, but my strategy only works in Extra Mode. The game is programmed so that everything increases in difficulty and intensity over time, to prevent endless bullet-tennis matches, and Extra Mode starts out at a high intensity to begin with, which means faster increases in your Spell Point counter and in turn faster gauge recharging. As for grazing, I'm not sure if it has any effect. For that matter, I'm not even sure if focus slows it down.

How do you raise your gauge so fast? It seems like you pull off so many specials in a row.

In Extra Mode, both sides start with a fully-charged gauge, which I usually use to launch three Lv.2 Spell Card attacks in quick succession. This also runs up the Spell Point counter (upper left) rapidly, which in turn causes my gauge to recharge really quickly.
Also, you send a free Lv.4 Spell Card attack whenever your Spell Point counter hits 100K, 300K, or 500K, which is an extra benefit of my strategy.
