  • A good Gaiman novel I came across was Neverwhere

  • @wintersfire I actually own that one!

  • I'm wondering how much you spend a month on books. XD

  • @unofficialdear Ehmmm quite a lot. It's kind of my main hobby/thing I spend money on. I've used some of the NextUp money to buy books. But I also try to borrow books from friends.

  • I'm up to sandman 5, and I absolutely love them so far. But I've been flailing about their awesomeness since the first so our tastes might differ a bit. I would echo the American Gods and Good Omens (which Gaiman penned together with Pratchett) suggestions from other comments and add that Neverwhere is also a good choice.

Where Stardust is concerned I have to admit I prefer the movie to the book...

In non-Gaiman news: I would love your take on the Locke and Key graphic novels!

  • @GroteKleineKapitein I already own Neverwhere so that's probably the first one I'll read, but I'll definitely take a look at the other ones :)

  • ALWAYS get to your videos early!

  • I have read most of Neil Gaiman's novels and I would highly recommend Good Omens, it is easily his best, and funniest novels.

  • Shes one of the most beautiful women I have ever seen :o

  • i fucking love Sandman.

  • I'm a huge Gaiman fan, and I really adore Sandman. =)

  • I agree with robinadams below--I was a Sandman addict, got every issue as it came out back in the day, and "A Game of You" is a very good place to start, as the initial Sandmans were sometimes slow and a bit murky. I would also suggest Sandman #19, "A Midsummer Night's Dream" (truly wonderful if you dig Shakespeare) and "Season of Mists" as good places to start.

  • I really liked Coraline. It's delightfully creepy (also an excellent movie).

  • I've never read a graphic novel before but would like to. Which would you recommend for a beginner? I have you on Good Reads and we have very similar tastes...

  • I love Neil Gaiman - you should definitely review Neverwhere, it's my favourite book!

  • Neil Gaiman is one of my favorites! Stardust is probably my least fav of all of his books (one of the few if only books ever that I liked the movie better) ... you must read more of his books!

  • I just bought this one! Looking forward to reading it. I wonder if I'll have the same opinion of it as you...

  • The Sandman gets much, much better as it goes. I wouldn't necessarily recommend reading them in order, especially for someone who doesn't read many comics. I'd suggest starting with book 5, "A Game of You". That book works well as a self-contained story, and Neil Gaiman had found his voice by then.
