The Space Race was a competition of space exploration between the Soviet Union and the United States, which lasted roughly from 1957 to 1975. It involved the efforts to explore outer space with artificial satellites, to send humans into space, and to land them on the Moon.

The Space Race effectively began after the Soviet launch of Sputnik 1 on 4 October 1957. The term originated as an analogy to the arms race. The Space Race became an important part of the cultural, technological, and ideological rivalry between the United States and the Soviet Union during the Cold War. Space technology became a particularly important arena in this conflict, because of both its potential military applications and the morale-boosting social benefits

  • Neil amstrong and Yuri gagarin, two masters.

  • @999cheetos999 Germany started that race.

  • or sometimes we call it MANTAB!

  • NICE!

  • The spread of liberal democracy makes it predictable that war may be a thing of the past. With liberal democracy in place space exploration becomes very important to avoid the problems of overpopulation. If we do not explore then I predict the spread of totalitarianism from the template of liberal democracy. The past example being the Nazi party and this time anti-immigration parties may spring up but also nations may want to start wars to attain resources.

  • @njdevil281 "Doesnt matter?" without roots and concepts we wont have them earlier and technology would be lagging, without German concepts of nuclear fission your "nuke" wouldnt even exist, without German rocket tech ICBM's wouldnt exist, without chinese inventions we might no even have rockets, paper ,gunpowder and such. Dont even be proud of "inventing" a mass murdering weapon that nearly led us to extinction in the Cold War.

  • @njdevil281 Im talking about complex computers. The B-2 itself is a bln dollar aircraft yet w/o computers it would crash, because they CANNOT make its triangle shaped body for RCS stealth aerodynamically stable, only diamond is aerodynamically stable(F-22,PAK-FA). The SU-37 or 35 can fly without computer assistance and they have the best aerodynamics and flight capability today. Im looking at the horton now and it has triangular nose configuration,it doesnt have to be literally a triangle

  • @999cheetos999 It doesn't matter where the concept for the a-bomb came from, the fact of the matter is that it was invented in the US in the largest most expensive project of WWII, it took 500,000 workers across the US in state of the art facilities across the nation, to enrich the uranium and develop the bomb. Germany wasn't even remotely close. And operation paperclip was standard intelligence gathering procedure. Capture their top scientists and make them talk for anything suspicious.
