  • Yet another great musical score from Ron Goodwin! Sadly over looked in life for a knighthood! One day.... I think he will be belatedly knightd by the Queen for his services to cinema music in the UK! Gordon Brown, take note - before you leave office!

  • I couldn't agree more!.....the movie scores he wrote were fantastic and made some great war movie so much better!

  • I agree, and it's a shame that this great theme is now almost forgotten, but I doubt if the movie ever will be!

  • Yes Lunardso I agree with you fully....I don't this pounding theme has ever been really equelled, it is really unique. An interesting point about this movie that might not be generally known is why' besides the money' Richard Burton took the part. He said at the time that all the films he was making were unsuitable for children to watch. Then "Where Eagles Dare" came along and he said, this is the only one of my movies I would take my children to see!....cheere mate lol

  • @river2walk does he really want his children to see all that gory killing

  • @spacepatrolman Well compared to the violence in today's movies ' Where Eagles Dare' is like a Walt Disney production, and it was even described by reviewers at the time of it's release as a 'boys own adventure' cartoon violence with action and adventure thrown in...I'm not sure but I think Richard Burtons children were girls one of which often appears on T.V. shows....she seems okay to me!

  • Where Eagles Dare is one of the most incredible movie themes ever composed. I don´t like very much the version presented here, conducted by Paul Bateman and The Philarmonic of Praga, it´s too slow and lacks the strenght of the original one, conducted by Goodwin himself.

  • @river2walk I sort of think it is similar to the theme to, "The Blue Max"......although this one is better.

  • @andyw0101

No one could say that line better than Richard Burton.

  • @kpadmirer

Thats only because the movie was fictional.

  • I didn't like the movie much, thought that it made the Germans look like pushovers.
