This song is about Kates Grandad who was a coal miner and her Grandmother. Its about Grandad dying from coal dust on his lungs and his wife looking after him while he was dying.
It is tradgic and also a love song. When you know Kate is telling the story of how her grandad died of emphacema "spelling mistake sorry" and her Grandma was looking after him until he died you can see the real strength of this song. It is beautifully written and very passionate.
Kate is genuine, and wonderful

@PunkLord If you don't get the connection, it's your loss I' afraid.. However if you get the chance, go and see them, they're fantastic and play a far broader selection of music than you'd imagine

If this song doesn't move you, then I don't know what will.

Simply beautiful. The brass ensemble are players from Grimethorpe Colliery Band and the cornet solo is played by Ian Shires.

Going to Beer this summer with my kids to take them back to my childhood holidays...omg I hope Kate is at Sidmouth then!! Love her!

Shit, I can't stop weeping!

Wonderful. I can't listen to it without getting a lump in my throat and a tear in my eye.

I'm trying to fight back the tears here.
Against the sweetest voice in Christendom, singing the most mournful song ever written, accompanied (I ask you!) a bloody brass band!
Can someone please tell me how in Hell that's supposed to be a fair fight?

Simply superb...a nightingale's narrative for a life of strife, sadness and toil with an uplifting vein as rich as any seam of coal.
Thanks for positng
