SAARC Summit ends

The 16th SAARC Summit draws to an end with several new agreements to surmount world challenges through regional strength.
Leaders of the eight member countries, including Sri Lanka joined in the Summit staged in Thimpu, the capital of Bhutan. The leaders focused attention on tackling climate change threats and also boosting trade and regional cooperation among member nations were among the topics dealt at length. A SAARC Parliament built through regional political cooperation was an idea mooted by President Rajapaksa during his address at the Summit.
