Here is a preview of my first iPhone / iPod Touch game "Wormies." Sorry for the poor video quality... this is the first time I've tried uploading one on youtube. I've spent about two months making it, using the great cocos2d graphics library. In this demo, I go through and use each tool in the following order:
touch tool: Worms move to touch position to dodge predators
food tool: The worms gruadually swarm around the food item and devour it (if worms get too hungry, they will eat each other instead of mate)
heart tool: A frenzy of mating occurs at the touched spot, after which the parent worms die out
radiation tool: A cloud of radiation changes attributes of all worms, for better or for worse (with a small chance of death)
death tool: Touch worms to squish them (weed out weaker worms to improve overall population strength)
As worms mate, their statistics increase at random rates. The population gradually evolves into super worms, resistant to predators and speedy in movement.
The game is nearly complete. It needs a bit of polish on the menus and some testing, then I will release it to the app store. This video was made with the simulator, but it also runs well on my iPod Touch (2nd gen). Hopefully it will perform well in the harsh, saturated world of iPhone games. Or it may flounder and die (much higher chance of this happening).
