I remember seeing him at Prairie City OHV on Saturday, the day before the Hangtown Nationals. I believe it was 1982. He had his trailer setup away from everybody, just off by itself. I went up and asked for his autograph. He gave me a signed black and white photo. I tell you what, I thought that was so damned cool! I was only 16 at the time.

Rocket Rex is 1 of my hero's!, I wish I could get the 1980 Datona Supercross on DVD.

Are you talking about the fight he was in with Vic Allen?
Allen slid into Staten and took him out. Rex popped him one time and it was televised on ABC's Wide World of Sports.
I also seem to remember an incident at Daytona with Rex where he was led out of the stadium race in handcuffs for some reason.
The guy was a fighter, that's for sure.
