In August 1947, the British decided to quit India after nearly 200 years of taking power. India, one the most ethnically diverse nations in the world was to be divided. One country will now become two, India and Pakistan. The once peaceful land now implodes, people are forced out the villages that they have lived in for generations. 15 million scramble to be on the right side of the boarder, at least 1 million die in the process. Communities that have lived together for centuries turn on each other in one of the worst communal massacres of the 20th century. Britain the once great colonial power looks on as India Burns.

  • I am a Pakistani, I am extremely glad you have put this video up it is an exceptional piece of documentation.

It is key for both Indians and Pakistanis to look back at these events and understand the weight of these horrible atrocities yet it is also important to strive for neutral and accurate information regarding this critical period lest we turn to madness again based on poor information, propaganda and mindless emotion.

  • Pak leaders should be ashamed of what they did for their selfish reasons and divided great India... they are accountable for killing of so many innocent ppl during partition..no one would have been killed if there was no partition...

  • @awarapun72033035 Jinnah was a British tool.

  • @veechar Don't forget the British. They engineered it all.

  • @veechar We are similar on so many levels. But also very different at the same time. And Hindu discrimination of cast, were a problem and concern for muslims. We had to separate! END OF STORY! GET OVER IT!

  • Uploading media like this is a real service. Thank you very much.

  • My grandfather's all brothers and sisters were killed. They were in Quetta. Few of our uncles were in Army n our family were escorted but most of the people were killed in Pakistan per the stories i have heard. For muslims, it was about pure pakistan free of any kafirs. Millions of hindus were in far south west of pakistan in Sindh. For them it was an ordeal to travel such a distance and most of them accepted Islam to live. Their grand children now living in pak would be hating hindus. Irony..

  • @Asfandoo allah swt is kind and great :)

  • thank god india divided....i love my pakistan

  • Not the first time filthy brits used divide and conquer strategy. Both Jinnah and Gandhi were british agents.

  • Dear friends, The fact behind partition was the bloody britishers and we fought each other for nothing and we killed our brothers and ourself. Now we have to re-think for a peace. Its fucking shit that we are blaming each other. I am an Indian and I will also respect the moral of Pakistan . Because till yesterday we are friends, brothers, families. Our stupid ego will end one and will raise against this bull-shit whitish and will unite to a big super power.
