The Jason Debus Heigl Foundation, founded by Nancy and Katherine Heigl, announced the Pets to Patriots promotion, which provides no-cost adoptions to veterans. The promotion is one of the highlights of The Fall 5000 and will be offered at participating Pets to Patriots shelters. Today's conference was the latest initiative to be announced by the Heigls, who have earned a reputation for putting their money where their mouth is when it comes to animal welfare.
During the conference, an emotional Nancy Heigl spoke of the 22.7 million Veterans in our country today. She said, "Every one of them deserves our generous thanks for defending our liberty and preserving our freedom....this is our way of thanking Veterans in one small way so we can build a stronger and more compassionate community." The Pets to Patriots promotion, funded with a $30,000 grant from the Heigl Foundation, will allow Veterans no-cost pet adoptions throughout the months of November and December. "It is a small token of our appreciation to the legion of heroes who have given so much," said Katherine Heigl.
"It is the soldier not the reporter who have given us freedom of the press.
It is the soldier not the poet who has given us freedom of speech.
It is the soldier not the organizer who gave us the freedom to demonstrate.
It is the soldier who salutes the flag, who serves beneath the flag.
It is the soldier who's coffin is draped by the flag who allows the
protester to burn the flag." - Nancy Heigl
