The Turbo-dually-rotating-stage-tastic cloud-dancing conclusion to Evergreen, the 1934 film of London's biggest stage musical hit up to that time.

  • over my shoulder goes one care

over my shoulder go two cares

why should I cry? It's blue above

I'm free at last and I'm in love

over my shoulder goes three cares

over my shoulder go four cares

    bye-bye to problems

    they've gone beyond recall

over my shoulder goes it all!

  • Thanks to you posting this, I'm now the proud and happy owner of a Jessie Matthews cd, She sings this song on it, amongst many other gems.

  • It is very much in the style of Busby Berkley, but no, this was Brittsh and not Hollywood.

In fact its small scale compaired to those. Each film out-did the last in this sort of thing.

  • Wonderful.

  • Please excuse my ignorance, but is this a Buzby Berkely routine?

  • Magical! Thank you for sharing this gem.

  • Jessie's films epitomize this era- she was a huge star. She suffered bouts of Manic depression/ borderline schizophrenia which made her life and relationships difficult, but onstage she shone like no other. Evergreen!

  • My Nanna served her in Phillips bros drapers in Neath in the 1940s. And did a bit of modelling too, got a pic of Jessie Matthews with my Nanna serving her, awesome :)

  • Yes, she was. In England, she was known as "The Dancing Divinity." Also, she wrote an autobiography called "Over My Shoulder."
