http://Bikewagon.com Learn to install pedals on your bike. Learn to thread the Right, or Left pedal correctly. Platform pedals, and road and clipless pedals. Most pedals are installed using a 15MM pedal Wrench, and some use a 6 or 8mm Allen Key. Brought to you by Bikewagon.com.

@bloodangelusn This BikeWagon guy, Marc, got it exactly correct...regarding the reverse threads on the left pedal, he's just talking about mechanical precession, and I'm sure he did say "precession" early in the video.
Of course, precession also is why the right pedal has standard, right-handed threads.
BikeWagon has some EXCELLENT videos on YouTube...their front/rear derailleur adjustment videos are particularly outstanding.

"Physics" eh? This guy is just trying to do a bit of elementary teaching; cut him some slack ok. BTW, where did you get your PhD?

It isn't any kind of a Phenomenon that causes the left pedal (if it has normal threads) to slowly come off the crank. It's just simple physics. Pedaling puts centrifugal forces on the pedal which would cause it to back out of the crank threads. Using the reverse threads negates that force. Physics not a phenomenon. ;)
