"tripling" is not exactly the best way to describe an increase from 0.9 Billion to 2.6 Billion (with a B), when the budget has doubled in the same time and is 1.8 Trillion (with a T). just look at the chart at 5:15. its Billion, not trillion. and when was the debt 3 trillion?

my point was that raegan was, along with the democratic congress, a good manager of the budget, and maddow has discredited herself by grossly misrepresenting his record.

Did you not see the 1980 video footage of the business owners and people complaining about having to pay more taxes as the rich people get even more money? Reagan only had a lot of revenue, because he eventually raised taxes on the rich 11 times after his initial plan of cutting taxes failed & was the direct cause of him tripling the deficit. Reagan's tax cuts for the rich put us 3 trillion dollars in debt, before Reagan came in the debt was it's lowest in 50 years only 980 billion.

its dishonest to show misleading charts of the budget but not mention the most relevant fact about the raegan budgets, that revenue doubled during that period. most dishonest is the debt chart at 5:15, where she says that debt "ballooned". it went from $0.9 billion to $2.6 billion, a mere $1.6 billion increase. this is not even 0.1% of the budget. just think about it, does $1.6 billion debt OVER 8 YEARS warrant repeated use of the term "budget busting tax cuts" maddow peppered her segment with?

Your own hero, Ronald Reagan said it was crazy not to tax the rich while lower income families pick up the tab. That is sad the republicans are so unstable that they can't even hold on the the very ideals that their leader supported and also when Ronald Reagan raised those taxes on the rich, instead of using it to pay the deficit and debt down he wasted the revenue on war.
