Longtime community and global Activist and Advocate Nayyar Javed delivers a compelling speak at the Saskatoon CAPP (Canadians Against Proroguing Parliament) Rally in Saskatoon on January 23, 2010.
Saskatoon was one of over more than 60 (registered) rallies held nationally and internationally to protest Prime Minister Stephen Harper's latest move of the prorogation of Parliament until March 3, after the Olympics in Vancouver.
Saskatoon's Rally drew more than 450 citizens from out of their warm homes on an icy, snow-filled day to gather in front of City Hall and peacefully protest the dismantling of democracy.
Watch for additional CAPP Saskatoon Rally footage, including Organizer and MC Peter Garden, author Yann Martel, Professor Susan Hunt, The Raging Grannies, and more!
Thank you to all the Activists who make us proud to call ourselves Canadian.
31 DAYS OF ACTION starts NOW
February 1 - March 3
see the facebook page "Canadians Against Proroguing Parliament"
Current fb group members number just over 223,000. Considering this facebook group is only about one month old at the beginning of February 2010, provides it with the status of an unprecedented phenomenon that is being shunned, ignored, even lied about, in the faces of our mainstream media, and a few of our politicians.
U of Alberta student and former Yellowknifer Chris White was fed up with the third proroguation under Prime Minister Harper, and wondering if others were too.
In his quest Chris started up the fastest-growing grassroots movement of the last few decades, and a first-time accomplishment for Canada.
