  • I agreed with everything except whinning up to throw a punch arcoss the body.I imagine that would be easy for a man with traing to catch on to.

I am thinking once you have the gun to "walk" him and work every leverage point on his body.Ex sample, elbows ,neck ,pinky finger, trigger finger.Basically anything that bends with your feet walking to throw him off balance

But all and all this guy is good.I am adding thoughts to the table

  • @NYWAORCANZ Counter attack however you feel you can accomplish it but you will need more than leverage because taking away the gun is just the first part. It is a foreign weapon to you and you don't have time to educate yourself. Counter attacks give you time to quickly evaluate...just disarms allow your attacker to keep coming.

  • good principles. i also saw the philippine flag back there. do you teach FMA as well?

  • @jedoza My instructor for Kali got his instruction from Dan Inosanto. For my students the knife and gun applications are more Israeli techniques for the simplicity. Kali can get very advanced. I lived in outside of Quezon City in the mid 80's during the Marco's reign.

  • IF by short circuit you are referring to the strikes during the disarm, I totally see your point and that was how I was instructed/taught when I was learning Krav. During the course of last year I was persuaded to a two hand approach to the pistol/gun arm for more complete control of the weapon. Counting on the strike to incapacitate the attacker isn't 100% but 100% of his attention will be on retaining the weapon. I appreciate your discussion on this.

  • @codavex Don't you love this stuff! With a restrain using both limbs on the attackers 1 limb knee strikes and headbutts are about the only option for striking, not counting takedowns. Short circuits for us are strikes which are most likely not a KO but to soften them up, give pain, create a different local of thought, and hopefully slow them down while we do a Jackie Chan fumble with a gun we probably know nothing about and may even be dealing with another attacker. Good stuff...

  • nice post

  • okay, so I can't find any gun disarms while lying down. Are there none? If you're lying down (like in your house and someone enters) or if someone's knocked you down on the ground, are there no ways to defend yourself? I have heard of women raped on the ground at gunpoint...so ground gun disarms, anyone?

  • @sblperformance1

.......................but all and all this guy is very good and competent

just I felt the strike could have been smaller, sneaker, more subtle with a touch more economy of motion on the face strike and show less intention

but all and all the guy is good

Now when you have the gun ,it makes a wonderful knuckle duster and you don't have to make large movements as it has sharp points and is heavy

also, anyone learning gun disarms should know how use the gun properly

  • @sblperformance1

..........attacted to you wither he is grabbing you or you are grabbing him, simply by "walking" you take away his stable fighting platform. He must follow you if he is to retain his weapon or his balance

I am speeking beyond just the techniqes of disarms but the concepts of physics and gravity and leverage and bio mechanics.Yeah , I know a lot of ten dollar words

this no dought takes hours and hours of pratice

But, in the end running water always finds the right way

  • @sblperformance1

I think what your saying is striking him give you time to think and react. Some would say that is changing his focus or rattling his cage(skull),shaking up is focus and attention.

if that is the case I agree.

however, I believe in what Bruce Lee would say "longest weapon to closest target" meaning I would try not to reach arcoss my body but strike with the arm closest to him

as for my term of "walking" when he is some how.............

  • excellent-one thing i show is when wpn is taken -one palm goes under barrel-other in pistol grip-STAB at attackers face hitting him with front of barrel- (this is good for

people not familiar with a wpn)-the stab is to break his teeth and further shock him-
