@Emrald70 nope, thats the whole essence of ART & is even used in some adults who are opposed to the drill! Using sharp excavators, chisels, hatchets etc access is gained, demineralized enamel, dentine is carefully curetted out to avoid pulpal exposure and since an ideal cavity prep( in way of G.V Blacks principles) is not made, GIC is used-it forms a chemical bond with tooth and releases fluoride. Interestingly, GIC is like a sponge, it absorbs fluoride and releases it as well.
