  • Hi please can you help, I am changing my 06 Citroen C4 1.6 coupeVTR+ and was thinking of getting a 1.6 petrol qashqai maybe 09 or 10, will not buy a diesel as I only use it weekends and prefer the smooth reliable and quite petrol. The problem with my Citroen is the gear ratio is terrible for motorway cruising speeds and at ony 120kph its at 4000rpm!! and thats is not economical and feels wrong like needs a 6th gear, what rpm is the qashqai at 120kph? would you recommend this car, any problems?

  • Panoramic roof is noisy on the bumps - sometimes. No BIG problems so far.

  • @PangeaSpreads yeah, u are right !!!

  • @xpaulkplx Thanks, appreciate the help, that is a bit better but as we said cars really needs a sixth gear now. I test drove a petrol Auris and Focus earlier and the same old story, once I hit 120 I found myself having to listen to an annoyingly high revving and needlessly over-worked engine so I guess most mainstream petrol cars are this way, pity, you can imagine how much quieter, relaxing, greener and cheaper it would be to cruise at 120kph at 2000-2500rpm vs 4000rpm

  • @PangeaSpreads I checked on motorway today morning: 120kph is about 3500-3600rpm. So it is not so bad..., but would be nice to have 6th gear...

  • @xpaulkplx I test drove a petrol Auris and Focus a few days back just to see if they were any difference at motorway speeds to C4 but there was practically no difference, once on the motorway I shifted up through the gears and when each reached the 120kph mark I felt myself looking to change gear again but of course there was none so I went along with that annoying high engine pitch of a needlessly over worked engine, I really dont want or need a diesel as I only use car weekend for day tripping

  • @xpaulkplx thanks and maybe its the same high revs as the C4 at 120kph, shame really as I would think the six speed diesel gearbox would be fine on the petrol unit(new bell housing to suit), truth be known 1.6 petrol and diesel are about the same in around citys its just the motorway where the low revs of diesel make a big differance but I could not see why a sixth gear or taller gear ratios from third to fifth are not the norm with motorway use so common for most people nowadays

  • @PangeaSpreads I will check my rpm on 120kph, but to be honest with u as I remember that was my first thought - to have 6th gear. It is really good car but: - check rear suspension - it is really noisy and my suspension has been changed after 20.000 km. If u hear rattles tell them to change rear suspension under warranty conditions. Nissan knows it this their fault. On my trip from Ireland to Poland (2300km) fuel usage about 6.5l/100km.
