  • Please, can someone say from which documentary this clip is from?

  • Does anyone know what film this is from? Amazing footage. I'd like to see the whole thing. Thanks for posting.

  • I was born in 1947 and only heard of "Tambu Bamboo" from my father in conversation. It took youtube and my life in Canada to find it!

Thanks to all and for the documentation, represation and preservation of the culture of Trinidad and Tobago.

  • You have provided an education to the world about that last musical instrument invented by man. Thank you. Interestingly, I read a recent comment that Michael Jackson was focussed on developing a new sound, a new musical instrument. Perhaps if he has found his way to the West Indies he may have collaborated with the Calypsonian and Soca revellers to develop a new instrument.

  • The Roaring Lion career officially began in 1924. He recorded extensively between the 1930s and 1950s, and was one of the calypsonians who deserves the most credit for increasing the international popularity of Calypso. Nuff Respect RIP

  • IsDePanInMe:

Thanks very much for the post and for all the folklorical richness of your catalog. I'm a lover of calypso from Texas, especially the semi-orchestral forms of soca and kaiso, and older things like tamboo bamboo and picong.

Can you tell me something about the stick fighting in the video? Has the tradition of kalinda been passed down to this day, or is De Unknown Band reviving this, too?

    Thanks,

    Tom

  • We need much more like this...please save our pan history!!

  • this has to be one of the most important peices of Steelband/T&T history to be posted...simply amazing!
