British hedge fund manager David Yarrow openly admits how he was able to profit from the 9/11 attacks by short selling key shares. This clip is from the second episode of the 2009 BBC documentary series, "The City Uncovered with Evan Davis."
@marcriv80 you can have all the products even if you giving free money as long as Federal reserve is closed and don't provide credit at zero to wallstreet, and if they fail no one would bail them out.
@duinay2 There is nothing wrong with short selling a stock. Just because some mad men could do something hypothetically evil in order to profit from shorting is not enough to make it illegal. The same could be done by an equally mad man falsifying company records in order to exaggerate profit in order to benefit from the price of a stock going up. Should we make investing in stock illegal too? Short selling is a perfectly legal and fair way to hedge against risk in the marketplace.
I don't understand why "shorting" is legal considering all it takes is for some mad man to cause a destruction and sink a company's stock. Wouldn't this promote destruction if mad men were to act?
Thanks

@veXati0n - "Shorting" is when an Investor makes money when the price of a stock goes down. By what definition do you have?
