Subadult male stretch spider (Tetragnatha extensa?) of the family Tetragnathidae had undergone ecdysis in a small container on my way home. This was one and the same spider which had been eating stealthily a crane-fly at other spider's orb-web (see http://youtube.com/watch?v=lzV5JXv-L-0 ). Keep in mind that this clip does NOT represent a natural moulting at all. The poor guy had difficulty in taking off old socks and broke his legs at last.... Late-July, 2007 in Japan.

  • i love this song whats the name of it?

  • the audio info is available at the end of the vid description.

  • Aww, do spider legs heal?

  • yeah, broken legs will be healed (to some extent) through next moltings, cuz this spider is still juvenile.

but grown-up spiders lose their regenerative abilities.

  • I have a severe phobia of spiders but I'm fine with jumping spiders, daddy long legs and tarantulas oddly enough. Let me see some unexpected spider, even a tiny one and I scream and run and wait till I think it's gone before returning to the area.

  • haha, many ppl have arachnophobia.

thanx for ur lots of pleasant comments.

  • I feel bad for the poor little guy.

  • oh ok thanks ^^..sorry

  • The first time my tarantula molted, I thought something had climbed into her enclosure and bit her in half. I was so distraught...now she's vibrant and rosy pink. Alas I kept her first molting...nevertheless, spiders are very fragile during the molting process. But though this one may have broken it's little leg, it will heal as its new skin hardens.

  • nvm I found it by searching the lyric in google
