Kindergarten Parents: Katherine Finchy Kindergarten teachers are here to help you! Our little songs and skills segments are designed to help you, the parents, to have the tools you need to work with your kindergarten student at home. Build on your student's basic skills by watching these short videos with your child. Then, modify them or adapt them as you facilitate your child's growth. Sing the songs and practice the skills together. You will create a foundation for school success!
Skill segment: Rhyming Words 1,2,3
Kindergarten students are required to learn to identify and produce rhyming words. Producing rhymes means that you should be able to say, "What rhymes with cat?" or any other word and he should be able to tell you (hat, bat, mat, chat, fat, rat, etc.) Also, he must be able to identify rhyming words, "Which two of these words rhyme? Mouse, mat, house, shoe?" (mouse and house). Each rhyming word segment is designed to help you to see ideas for ways to make rhyming fun. Also, please use Dr. Suess and other rhyming books, poems and nursery rhymes as tools to help you to build this skill.
