Plot:
A prototype of "Dirty Harry," Detective Mark Dixon (Dana Andrews) is out for more than justice as he persecutes hoods. In a personal quest for vengeance against the underworld, he accidentally kills Paine, a suspect in another homicide.

Paine had been using his wife Morgan (Gene Tierney), an honest working woman, to lure high rollers into a gambling den, run by notorious mobster Tommy Scalise. One night, a big winner runs out of luck when he tries to leave the game with an enormous wad of cash he won at craps. Paine makes Morgan a scapegoat for the gang's failure to stop the gambler from retiring early.

Later that night, unsuspecting Jiggs Taylor, who is looking for Paine so he can work him over for slapping his daughter, Morgan, becomes the prime suspect in Paine's murder.

Dixon faces a dilemma: tell the truth and admit to Morgan that he killed her husband and go to prison, or remain silent and see the woman he loves live in anguish as her father faces trial and incarceration for a crime he did not commit. Through his effort to exonerate Jiggs Taylor, Dixon is exorcising the ghost of his own father's criminal past.

In the past I did not think there was a chemistry between Gene and Dana but I have changed my opinion in this regard they both seem to have a comfortable and peacable way about each other in their films 7:14 captures it ''nice one Benny'' and thanks for posting

I love both Dana Andrews and Gene Tierney. Great together too. Gene really loved these Film Noir movies and she's so great at them! I want to see this movie!

It is actually quite a good movie. There is lots more to it than I included in the video; namely, Mark Dixon's scuffles with the gangsters and how the police solve the murder. I know you will enjoy it.
