Some of us think that this was one of the best controllers ever I miss having a 6 button layout so bad... I really don't care for the standard being 4 now on the front at least.
I don't know how anyone could think this is the best controller ever. It clearly influenced the Fatty (Xbox original) The Fatty seems like someone took the Saturn US controller, chewed up the Dpad, turned the 6 buttons side ways, added analog functionality, and added hog fat to back of the controller. It's earily similar to the US Saturn controller if you look at them both side by side.
The Fatty feels extremely comfortable to be fair, but it just didn't work because they sideway the 6 buttons.
And I don't like the Duke Style Xbox Controller they feel a bit different in my hands but I do prefer smaller controllers ... well unless its an arcade stick of course.
Not the best controller ever I just really like it and I do prefer the model 2. Still I preferred them both over the PS1 controller
I personally think that the Saturn 3D controller is the best one ever made with its analog stick thingie. All three Saturn controllers are laid out professionally under SEGA superb styling. The controller we have originally here is actually the model 1 and was exclusive here. I'll admit the model 2 controller is better for gameplay in general, but on a stylistic stand point it is superior and superior still to any controller that could be drempt up today.

One of the reasons no one bought Saturn.
Saturn of course came out in Japan first, and they only have one model of controller there.
The model 2.
So really, the US controller is the model 2.
And a huge mistake.

That'd be like giving it ultimate praise.
Duke Nukem and all...
It's just fat.
That's why most people call it the Fatty.
Yea, it really sucks that they made the 6 buttons stacked vertically, rather than horizontal.
They made the controller based off of focus tests with hardcore gamers.
Controllers for adults, with 6 face buttons came back the most popular.
Leave it to MS to screw that up though.
Just copy the Nights controller already...
Saturn 3D pad nailed it
