Pocketwatch - Opening the Back

I have an important piece of information for you !! When closing your cover on the watch NEVER, snap it closed at you did in the video!! Always depress the button on the stem (as when you opened it) close the cover and release the button again!! Repeated "snap closing",will in fact wear out the small catch that holds the watch closed in a short time !! Expensive to fix also!!! Stu.

@KageNoAku You are right, it makes a veryl satisfying sound, but unnfortunately doesn't do the spring much good.:-) I have quite a few Russian pocket watches, as I collect them and also always wear one daily. The Russians made very reliable watches. Raketa (Rocket) is also a good USSR pocket watch, very slim. around 18 jewels.

It is a Monija (lightening,in Russian.) Made at the Chelbrinsky military factory in the USSR. Usually 17 jewels, very good watches. Reliable time keepers.
As others hae pointed out, don't snap it shut, press the winder as you shut it,it will save the spring.

@538921 Thanks for the info ^_^
Yeah, that'll teach me to use movies as references for handling watches eh? I have yet to see a movie where they didn't snap it shut (possibly some people in movies DO know you're not supposed to, but it makes what you could call a symbolic sound) XD
