the ribbon seems to work like an add-on program that overrides the native UI- but the the native UI is still there if you paste that debug.ini file in the revit program folder..

they absolutely need to give us the option to use either UI by 2011..

Fuck you AUTODESK!
IF SOMEONE CHOOSE MAX/MAYA/XSI/AUTOCAD/REVIT, HE CHOOSE BECAUSE THE WAY IT LOOKS! BUT NOW YOU ARE MAKING EVERY PRODUCT THE SAME! AND EVERY PRODUCT WILL BE FUCKED'UP IN SAME WAY!

The ribbon works fine with MS Word, But for revit is a bad joke, I hope that the Sketchup programmers come with a BIM alternative, and you will see Autodesk make big changes in Revit.

I agree that the implementation of the ribbon was not well thought but I disagree with "now I have to remember that 'move' is now here".

No! The whole point, as I see it, is that you see the big icons. Otherwise all of the keyboard shortcuts are two characters long so it is as fast as ever with keyboard.

And yeah, insert tab is stupid and I was puzzled as well when I tried to move something.

Thanks for the video

sorry about all these messages..

but here's the real deal..

RAC 2010 is now 64 bit..

aside from the many operations being speeded up- 64 bit is enormously important..

we may just have to take the bull by the horn where this ribbon is concerned..

this is really hard for me to swallow- but over all- RAC 2009 is like a ferrari compared to the new GMC truck..

no doubt 64 bit is the future- but this might be the first year i skip an upgrade..

i've used the ribbon for many many hours now- and i'm beginning to really like it.. first of all the whole thing looks really good.. and those big buttons on
the ribbons are really easy to grab because they are so big..

i keep the ribbon open without the labels under them and i also have the quick launch under the ribbon.. and the project browser on the right side..

probably the old UI was better like this guy says- but this new stuff is just way too nice to even think about the old..

well we don't have a classic UI mode- that was a joke..

BUT- right under the ribbon you can put the quick launch bar.. that's a lot of tool buttons that don't move..

at least revit doesn't look like an old windows 95 program anymore..

and don't forget we are talking about a native 64 bit program now.. that's big-time actually..
