First time through in new game plus I believe they get 40% harder, then 10% more difficult each play-through after.

Those white signs on the floor that are not AI are actual players that play the game that help you defeat the boss.
They can be hollow or non-hollow but the player that summons the white/gold phantoms from those white/gold signs need to be human to be able to summon them. Basically the one that's human is the host and leader of the group, if the host dies then the phantoms will go back to their world.

The soul you get from the butterfly allows you to craft Horn of the Moonlight Butterfly or Crystal Ring Shield. The Horn you get by upgrading the Partisan spear weapon you got from the last episode and fusing it with the soul. American players really like the The Horn spear weapon since it does alot of lightning damage, but those crazy Japanese players say the shield is better as it does a very unique attack but sadly it does not block 100% physical damage.

Also a note for this boss, since she is totally vulnerable when you attack her. Two hand the weapon to make it go quicker.
