Good question...actually, Jean is related to former heavyweight boxer Ernie Terrell. But she is not related to the long-deceased and greatly missed Thomasina Montgomery, better known as Tammi Terrell.

Jean does share some of the same facial features as Tammi (what a tragic waste of life).

Jean Terrell was discovered my Berry Gordy when he saw Jean performing with Ernie Terrell and the Knockouts. That is where she received her first "training" as a professional. They are from Chicago and no relation to Tammy Terrell. An interesting fact...the Supremes charted first before Diane and had two consecutive chartings before Diane's charting with Ain't No Mountain High Enough...and as Blondie (Flo) used to say..."Honey, they iz good!"

AND TO think, Berry Gordy wanted to replace Jean Terrell with Syreeta Wright in the Supremes - but this song was due for release soon, so that idea was quickly scrapped - Mary Wilson had said in her biography that Syreeta Wright wanted a solo career, and she refused to bring in anyone who saw the Supremes group as a stepping stone-
