@Americaisgreat123 From what i can gather, FDR *did* agree to spending cuts, although the degree to which these actually affected the economy is still debatable. For instance, read mises.org/daily/4039

@AliceNchainz011 - FDR did not cut spending. Could you elaborate on your statement or concern? It was mostly the fault of the Federal Reserves incompetent monetary policy decisions that gave us that depression within a depression 1936-1937.

@Americaisgreat123 Was it true or not true that it was FDR's decision to cut spending in his second term which brought about the "double-dip" recession?
-
I read the book and Obama is following the same script.
-
The New Deal, and that beginning period was still important for the minds of the American people. It brought us out of the Depression psychologically, but obviously not in practical terms.
-
Obama would be wise to read Folsom's book, but he won't.

Dr. Folsom is a BAMF.

new deal was a raw deal, but we aint seen nuttin yet
Finally, historians are starting to listen to economists in their claim that FDR's New Deal completely failed to get us out of the great depression. Many, including myself, vehemently argue it greatly prolonged the depression. Both Hoover and FDR were government activist and hence complete domestic failures.

It has been taken for granted that the New Deal was a good thing. I grew up hearing its praises. There is a movement today to finally call it like it is because we now have over 50 years of its legacy. A failure.
