After bursting onto the fantasy scene with his acclaimed debut novel, Elantris, and following up with his blockbuster Mistborn trilogy, Brandon Sanderson proves again that he is todays leading master of what Tolkien called secondary creation, the invention of whole worlds, complete with magics and myths all their own.

Warbreaker is the story of two sisters, who happen to be princesses, the God King one of them has to marry, the lesser god who doesnt like his job, and the immortal whos still trying to undo the mistakes he made hundreds of years ago.

Their world is one in which those who die in glory return as gods to live confined to a pantheon in Hallandrens capital city and where a power known as BioChromatic magic is based on an essence known as breath that can only be collected one unit at a time from individual people.

By using breath and drawing upon the color in everyday objects, all manner of miracles and mischief can be accomplished. It will take considerable quantities of each to resolve all the challenges facing Vivenna and Siri, princesses of Idris; Susebron the God King; Lightsong, reluctant god of bravery, and mysterious Vasher, the Warbreaker.

  • i wonder what he thinks of the sword of truth novels

  • @minicm122

Not really. He tied up all the threads very well actually. But he did leave room for a sequel if he so chooses...

  • martin is the superior writer. there is no question. that takes nothing away from sanderson, they are two very different types of writer. every sanderson novel i've read has been very satisfying.

  • @JerridPayne I personally disagree. GRRM is probably my fav writer. I really, really like Sanderson though, and he seems to get better with every book, so maybe someday; Way of Kings was very very promising.

  • @JerridPayne I have heard him speak very highly of GRRM actually, he just was bothered by the "grittiness" of them (which is a lot of what most people love, myself included). Different strokes I guess.

  • I WANT A SEQUEL! YOU LEFT A FREAKING CLIFF MAN!

  • love ur books ;]

  • I just brought and read it a little while ago and I only have two problems with it. For one, he's letting anybody download the book for free from his website and two, that he intended to always make it two books, but called it a standalone because it was good enough without the intended sequel. since it can last by itself, he can just write the second one whenever he feels like it...I goota find the site where it said that!

  • When I was at the sci-fi store in Gothenburg to buy some Malazan books and the Mistborn series. Saw this one and pondered a long time weather or not to buy it. In retrospect I wish I had.
