Many music critics point to this particular recording as the "birth" of the modern rhythm and blues sound. Produced by Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller (with an assist from Phil Spector), "There Goes My Baby" was the first extensive use of strings and upscale production values on a rhythm and blues number up to this time. The song was composed by Ben E. King, Lover Patterson, and George Treadwell, and it marked the first recording by The Drifters with Ben E. King on lead vocal. "There Goes My Baby" peaked at #2 during the summer of 1959.

  • @SkYlAnDeRs64 Agreed.

  • @razorramone63139 best part of the movie

  • "Michael Squints Palledorous walked a little taller that day. And we had to tip our hats to him. He was lucky she hadn't beat the *crap* out of him. We wouldn't have blamed her. What he'd done was sneaky, rotten, and low... and cool. Not another one among us would have ever in a million years even for a million dollars have the guts to put the move on the lifeguard. He did. He had kissed a woman. And he had kissed her long and good.."
