  • wow.. Cute! gonna get my clown loach tommorrow and put'em together with some barbs :D

  • @mangkuk69

Wait, wait, wait... think about these two things.

Clownloaches grow very big, up to 16 inches... They need very big tanks: a minimum of 75 gallons or more. And you should not keep only one. That would stress it to death. They are one of the smartes fish i've ever seen. And i agree they are very cute, so think about what i said. Go to "loaches com" for further information.

  • You should put some mylasian trumpet snails in that sand.... they'll breed like crazy and the clown loaches will pig out on them..... snails give clown loaches much better color

  • @Psittac20

Yes right. There are... uhm... tons of those snails in the sand.... and even more empty snail shells on it.^^ I got several more tanks so i can take care for replenishment. The camera is not the best, check out my lates video on them called: "Best tankmates: Clown loaches and Tiger barbs / Prachtschmerlen und Sumatrabarben [1/1] " or /watch?v=1ptNIBUrmKQ

  • How big do clown loaches usually get? and would you recommend putting two in a twenty gallon tank?

  • @Apocalypsefilmstudio

A very good homepage for background information on clown loaches is called "loaches com". A twenty gallon is way to small. A minimum of 75 gallons or more. And they need a group. If you ever wanna see your loaches calm and stress-free get at least 6. They become more and more brave the bigger the group is (but that also needs more and more gallons).

Top Comments

  • No they will grow typically 8-12" in aquariums, but from 5-6" onwards it tends to be slow growth taking years to get to their final mature size.

  • Awesome video! Love clowns!

  • Luckily in Finland the rules about keeping fish are really strict, because the stupidity of some people in here give me the creeps! If you don't have at least 500 liter (130 gallons) of water in your tank, you shouldn't take any clown loaches because they grow to be too big, and they won't be happy. "Oh but that fish is cute" is not a reason for animal cruelty! And there also should be at least 4 of them, and more is better. Shame on you.

  • 01:12 best part :D

  • What ages are they please & what are the wafers called you are feeding them? Thank you.

  • how old is your really big loach?

  • @n03lzz You dont need 75 gallons. I have two large clown loaches in a 200l tank (around 50 gallons) they are perfectly happy and healthy. As long as you have decent swim space and filtration, you dont have to hold fast to the limit of tank size.

  • @n03lzz barbs might bother the heck out of it too

  • @n03lzz i agree totally apart from the part about them being the smartest fish you have ever seen unless you have not kept cichlids . i dont think they come close to cichlids especially uaru, angelfish and sevs also spiny eels very intelligent .clowns are no chumps though
