I have just discovered that my Great uncle James Gurney Speirs died at the Ypres Salient 1917 and his name is on this memorial. He came from Galashiels in Scotland and was only 19 years of age he never had time to marry and have children, such a waste of life. I pay tribute to all our brave soldiers that have died in all the stupid wars our cowardly politians have sent them to. We will remember them.
