@mercedes3195 "María Elena" was written in 1932 by Lorenzo Barcelata (Spanish words and music). It was published by Peer International Corporation of Mexico.
The song was dedicated to María Elena, the wife of Mexican President, Emilio Portes Gil.

Though I am a big fan of most everything performed by Chet Atkins, there is another recording of this song made popular in the 60's by Los Indios Tabajaras that I like much better. A few years before his death, Chet had an album called "Sails" that is absolutely beautiful!

This is one of the most BEAUTIFUL songs ever written or recorded and played on guitar ! I LOVE IT ! I found this album in the public library, I never knew it existed, I could not stop listening to it. Simply BEAUTIFUL !
