Here we climb the famous archers' hill at Uhud. For those of you who have read about the Battle of Uhud, this is where the archers' were stationed by the Prophet (saw) and ordered not to move regardless of what they saw. However most of them disobeyed him and left when they perceived the Muslims to be winning. The forces of (the then still disbeliever) Khalid bin Waleed came around this hill, flanked the Muslims and inflicted heavy damage upon them including injuries to the Prophet (saw) himself.
However Allah forgave the archers and all the others who fled the battlefield at Uhud that day, in the Qur'an where He says:
"Those of you who turned back on the day the two hosts met (i.e. the battle of Uhud), it was Shaitan (Satan) who caused them to backslide (run away from the battlefield) because of some (sins) they had earned. But Allah, indeed, has forgiven them. Surely, Allah is Oft Forgiving, Most Forbearing." [3:155]
We make our way up the hill, which is now a tourist attraction replete with a mini market of it's own lol.
