One of the best we ever had in Germany, he was arrogant, but he earned it to be arrogant. He said as it was and never took part in ass kissing. All his films are classics.

Kinski's 'hypocrisy' can be forgiven. He's not an idiot. He understands that Jesus would censor him for being rich. But J would probably give him a thumbs up for at least trying to rescue His brand from the church and state authorities. If Kinski is a hypocrite for putting forward Jesus' egalitarian philosophy then so is every other single human being who has ever preached the gospel with a full plate of food in front of their face.

I'm surprised it took Kinski so long before reacting to the hecklers. But this was before Aguirre, so he'd been mostly doing spaghetti westerns and Jess Franco's Justine. So I'm guessing his temper got shorter and shorter the more famous he got.

After listening to Herr Kinski's mesmerizing speech and the way he expresses himself, he is definitely in my list of inspirational speakers & performers. I also highly admire the way he defends himself against some of the rude audience members amongst the crowd.

Monsieur Kinski said true, when he claimed that he does not enact his role but incarnates the characters he does play: So he is Aguirre, the Wrath of God indeed, he does not play the brave soldier Woyzeck but he is him actually! And so it is with Jesus: When he did preach to the flower-children here, he was Jesus Christ indeed; and consequently his audience did turn into Pharisees and demanded his immediate crucifixion and mocked his words with their ignorant hair-splitting!
