Car-Free Vancouver Day is a popular street festival started as a 100% volunteer initiative in 2005 to encourage people to get out of their cars and use public transit, bicycle or walk. The event continued to expand until 2009 when it exploded into 4 neighbourhoods and in 2010 to 5 neighbourhoods (Commercial Drive, Kitsilano, Main Street, Westend & North Vancouver). Up to 200,000 attendees were expected throughout all 5 neighbourhoods this year.
The Main Street festival offered 17 blocks of shopping, entertainment, a farm market, handcrafts, exhibits, demonstrations, food, street hockey, skateboarding, music, etc for all ages.
B:C:Clettes are an eclectic group of performers who celebrate bikes and those who like to ride them. They ride and dance in all weather and they weather all storms together as a collective!
