Here I will show you how to mix the resin and make the first layer of your pendant

To make resin pendants you will need:

Resin (I use the 50:50 kind, you mix equal parts or resin and hardener)
Gloves to protect your skin
Silicone molds or other molds made for resin
Wooden stir sticks
3 see-through cups, with a somewhat flat and smooth interior for even mixing
Newspaper or something else to protect your work surface
Stickers or other items to embed in the resin
A short straw, I cut a regular straw in half
A toothpick or similar object to manipulate the sticker once inside the resin

Step one:
Mix your resin. Pour slowly into mold, only fill enough to cover the bottom on the mold, you only want a thin layer. Fill all cavities like this then place your sticker facedown into the cavity. Use your toothpick or other object to push the sticker into place. Very important, you MUST keep an eye on these! Your sticker can shift and float out of place. I check every 30 minutes and move the sticker back into place until the resin is solid enough (usually after 2 hours). Make sure it's not too hot and humid, if it is I run the air conditioner all day. After about 2 hours when it is still sticky you can add some glitter shapes if you want.

  • When using a mould with resin what should the mould be made out of? I see lots of moulds around but worry that the material they are made from would react with the resin and be unsafe.

  • @JazziJewellery I typically buy molds that specifically say they are for resin. you can also use silicone molds, like you can get for shaped ice cubes....... I don't recommend the thin candy molds made from smooth clear plastic. They won't be reusable.

You can try different disposable things too, like those little trays chocolates come in for Valentines day. Those are thin enough that you can cut it up and peel it off the hardened resin. Just think about what shape it will make

  • do you plan to reuse the squeeze bottle? how do u clean it?

or u always use the squeeze bottle one time only?

  • @studuatiga I clean them by turning the bottle upside down, stick the stir stick inside of the bottle and prop it up in a throwaway cup. After the resin hardens, roll the bottle between your fingers to loosen the resin then pull the stick out, hopefully the resin comes out in one piece on the stick!

  • where are your gloves?!!!!!

  • @higtea haha! I'm very careful and wash my hands thoroughly afterwards.
