My beloved Chopin's music is famous for 'not translating well' from the piano to other instruments, but it occurred to me the other night this nocturne might sound good. Some parts (the chromatic scales, some ornaments) have been omitted (or fudged) for now; I don't know if the cadenza will ever work on the panpipes.

  • @kaeliv10

I am honoured! Thank you! :-)

  • This is Nocturne No.2 opus 9. Not number 3

  • You're right! Will go and fix that. :)

  • ._.

What did you do to this piece???

  • Erm...... I tried an adaptation for the panpipe, just because the melody is so vocal I thought it might sound nice. It would be very hard to play it as written on the panpipes. I mean no disrespect towards Chopin; he is my favourite composer (as you will see from my videos - I have a 'Chopin' playlist)! I've posted this piece on the piano as well, which you might like better. :)

  • Cool! Looks like he practiced a lot, and it sounds very relaxing. I know I couldn't do that anytime soon. :)

  • I'd not say otherwise; I've posted a video of my playing it on the piano (some silly mistakes, alas). But I can't carry my piano with me while I walk; my arms get too tired! ;) (*The e minor nocturne, or a part of it, works not badly on the panpipes as well, IMO, as does the intro to the second ballade.)

  • I appreciate the effort. It is an interesting spin on a well-known, beautiful piece. But I'd hate to break it to you, it does sound better on piano.

  • amazing
