I was up at work and these team Schneider drivers, with one months experience was backing into a hole. One was backing the truck, the other was on the ground spotting. it was a wide open space. Notice the issues they were having. I talked to this couple afterwards and they told me that their trainer only allowed them to back up ONCE!!! which is ridiculous. They contacted Schneider and told SNI that they felt unsafe backing and SNI's response was "it will come with time, Just practice!" I told them to tape the phone call and put it on the qualcomm when they ask for more assistance. PROOF that large companies care NOTHING about safety. i wish these drivers the best of luck in their trucking career

  • The good news is, that they got her in the hole. They didn't quit and didn't get too frustrated. The next time will be better.

  • @FriPilot Yeah. Everybody has to start somewhere. I spoke with them and this is truly a failure on SCHNEIDER's part. They told their STL they were uncomfortable backing and he told them to practice it will come in time.

  • @dieselducy Why you flame on all the truckers mang?

  • @VajinalBloodFart This is not flaming, I actually spoke with the drivers afterward. It is crappy companies that want to put meat in the seat that bother me!

  • I've only been working 5 months now with Werner, and I've come to realize that 99% of backing is proper setup. Miss your setup, and you'll never get it in the hole.

  • its not easy backing up when your a greenhorn. it comes with time. we make it look easy, but its not. even now i sometimes get all crossed up and i've driven all over europe. i still have my off days too y'know??

  • Seeing shit like this makes me glad I started on a lot smaller truck. Its a lot better starting on a smaller truck, trailer what ever.

  • I've been driving now for just over a year and I still have trouble with backing at times. The saying is true that you have a wide open space and it's harder to hit the hole than when you back between two trucks.

  • I've been guilty of making jokes about Schneider (and Werner and Swift, ect.) but 1. Their training is too short, and not nearly comprehensive enough, and 2. WHY do they have to put newbs on the road in the godawfullest ugly trucks?

As far as backing in general, you can be trained well, and can be competent; some drivers have a flair for it, and some don't. Glad to see this driver didn't get discouraged.

  • This is my motivation to be rookie of the year!!!!!!

  • I retired from the road in 2000. Backing is a skill that can be taught. But, some people just never get it.

  • I've been driving for 20 yrs. It's all hand to eye coordination. It doesn't take any great strength. Anyone can go to school and get a license. But you either have it or you don't.

  • @kemokleen 44hrs training...lmao, I passed the written and driving test the FIRST time with no training at all...
